
Financial Literacy
TMBA offers a variety of educational programs and products to ensure that members and non-members alike are able to enhance their careers. In an industry that is ever changing, the ability to keep up to date of current issues and trends is of the utmost importance. TMBA is dedicated to keeping its members at the forefront of the real estate finance industry.
Texas Mortgage Bankers Association is excited to promote financial literacy through our member-driven, FDIC’s financial education program - Money Smart. TMBA members will be able to request Money Smart materials and deliver customized co-branded presentations to their communities. Members can select from a full 8-module course or a 1-hour overview presentation. Please email TMBA Executive Vice President, Lisa Vercher with the following information:
- Name of the Presenter(s)
- Presentation Option - Choose between the 8-module course or 1-hour overview presentation.
- TMBA Member Company Logo
- Name and Location of the School where the Presentation will be Delivered
- Anticipated Grade Level and Audience Size
The FDIC's Money Smart materials are available to all employees of all TMBA Member firms. Feedback after a presentation is delivered is encouraged, so please follow up with Lisa Vercher and pass along any comments or observations. TMBA is pleased to offer this established curriculum to member firms and looks forward to providing the tools necessary to spread the invaluable message of financial literacy to young adults across the State.
Endowment Scholarship

The TMBA Board established an Education Endowment Fund in 2012 which provides scholarships to individual TMBA members, such as yourself, who might be eligible and wish to apply it toward a relevant mortgage banking-related program for 2023. For more details, please review the TMBA Endowment Scholarship Packet.
The deadline to submit your application for the three scholarship amounts below is Friday, May 5, 2023. You may be eligible to for the following amounts:
- $2,500
- $1,500
- $500
To apply, please review the TMBA Endowment Scholarship Packet and send your written application to the TMBA office no later than 11:59 pm on Friday, May 5th,2023 to Lisa Vercher, TMBA Executive Vice President: lvercher@texasmba.org.
You MUST provide an additional copy of the required documentation (Page 4, Sec 8. How to apply) in a redacted format, removing all references to your name and other personally identifiable information.
Note: failure to remove all such information will disqualify you from eligibility.
